High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
 
Wheaton North High School is a top high school situated in the United States. Wheaton North High School, or WNHS is a public four year high school located at the corner of Geneva Road and Gary Avenue in the northwest corner of Wheaton, Illinois. The school was established in the year 1964. Falcon is the mascot of the school while the school colors are royal blue and gold. Jill Bullo is the principal of the school. In 2005, Wheaton North had an average composite American college test score of 23.1 and graduated 99.2 percent of its senior class.
 
The staff is comprised of 118 teachers and an average class size of 23. In the May 6, 2006 issue of Newsweek, Wheaton North was ranked 1,068 out of 1,200, placing it in the top 5 percent nationally. The school also has language clubs, service activities and various other activities typical of an American high school. Wheaton North has 10 performing arts ensembles, which includes five choirs, two orchestras, two bands and one pep band. Recent accomplishments in athletic include a 3rd place finish in state for both the boy's and girl's soccer teams in the 2005-2006 school year.

The school preserves its historical vision, gives that vision vitality in changing times and embeds its ideals in every succeeding generation. The school believes that intellectual and moral excellence is achieved through the active participation of many people in diverse roles, which brings in a wide range of expertise and experience. Its helps the students to understand their true potential and helps them to acquire knowledge in a unique way resulting in the development of values which are essential for future success.
