Wayne Valley
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Wayne Valley High School is a comprehensive four year public high school, one of the two high schools in Wayne, New Jersey, United States. The school was established in the year 1952. Robert V. Reis is a principal of this school. Wayne Valley's school colors are blue and white while the mascot is Indian. Wayne Valley is known for its tradition of excellence, both academically and athletically and it has often been ranked among New Jersey's top public high schools.
Wayne Valley High School was the 72nd ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's top public high schools. The school is accredited by the middle states association of colleges and schools and the New Jersey department of education. The school curriculum, as well as curricular and extra curricular activities, includes experiences that enable students to realize personal and civic goals which allow them to mature and to be responsible members of our constantly changing society.
The school students participated in the nineteen member northern Hills conference. The Wayne Valley football team made it to the North 1 Group 3 playoffs both in 2005 and 2006. In 2005, the Indians were second seeded behind Wayne Hills High School and beat Northern Valley Regional High School in the first round. The mission of the school is to prepare students to become confident, competent, ethical individuals and responsible citizens by creating a positive and nurturing school environment where staff, students, parents and the community work together.
