High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

Fayetteville-Manlius High School is a New York public high school on East Seneca Turnpike in the town of Manlius, serving high school students from grades 9 through 12 in the Fayetteville-Manlius central school district. It is the only high school in the district, serving graduates of both Wellwood middle school and Eagle Hill middle school. The principal is Mr. James Chupaila. The school colors are green and white while the athletics teams are the Hornets. In 1951, the Fayetteville and Manlius school districts were consolidated, with a single school in each village. The current high school building was first opened in 1962 and has been added onto and remodeled many times since.

The original Eagle Hill Junior High building, built in 1965, was then connected to the adjacent high school, approximately doubling the high school's size. The high school served grades 10 through 12 until 1980, when the two junior high schools became middle schools. As of the 2003 to 2004 school year, 80 percent of its graduates went on to a 4 year college and 12 percent to a 2 year college. The school has a strong science Olympiad team, winning the state competition for the past four consecutive years, winning the overall national competition in 2004 and was placed 5th and 4th in the 2005 and 2006 national competitions.

The students and faculty blend rigorous academic studies and exchanges into lives lived fully and committed to making a difference. In this regard, knowledge, honor, courage, and service stand out as elements of character important in their daily lives and to the future of each student. The school curriculum, as well as curricular and extra curricular activities, includes experiences that enable students to realize personal and civic goals which allow them to mature and to be responsible members of our constantly changing society.
