High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

Hopkinton High School is type of public high school. It is located in Contoocook, one of three villages that make up the small, quiet town of Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The town has almost 5000 residents, and lies on the Contoocook River just west of Concord. Hopkinton High School serves approximately 540 students in grades 7th to12th grades. Hopkinton High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the New Hampshire Department of Education. It is also a member institution of the College Board.

The high school is organized by academic departments from which students may select courses according to their needs and interests. All classes are open to all students, provided that applicable prerequisites are completed. The curriculum is characterized by its depth and breadth, and by the integration of field studies, in and out of country travel, School and Work partnerships, and the use of technology. Steven Chamberlin is Principal of the school.

The Hopkinton High School and Middle School Athletic Programs maintain an active approach to the development of both academics and athletics. The importance of continuous improvement is stressed, in conjunction with the values of good sportsmanship and work ethic. The participation of the student-athlete in the Hopkinton Middle and High School broad-based athletic programs contributes to the total development of the person. The participation in athletics provides an opportunity for the developing individual to be immersed in a diverse educational environment. This provides a stage for cohesion, socialization, and discipline, all of which are important for ultimate success in life.

The mission of Hopkinton High School is to provide their students with opportunities to obtain the skills needed to become productive, responsible citizens, capable of making positive contributions to a changing society.
