High Point Central
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
High Point Central is located in the heart of High Point, North Carolina, home to the International Home Furnishings Market. The generations of High Point families have passed through their 1927 collegiate Gothic halls, now providing the 21st century student with options ranging from IB, International Baccalaureate to College Point Central High is a comprehensive public school with an enrollment of approximately 1400 students in grades 9th to 12th. It is comprised of a wide range of socio economic and religious backgrounds, it is accredited by the Southern Associtation of Colleges and Schools. The school principal is Revonda Johnson.
The dollars 750,000 high school is collegiate gothic, with three towers. At its completion many called it the grandest building in the state. Tapestry brick with terra cotta trimmings was used on the exterior. Lobbies and corridors had terraza floors. The AD, Advanced placement, IB and Honors courses which are designated as such on the transcript are weighted and carry an extra quality point for the honors courses and two extra quality points for the AP or IB courses.
The athletics programs include baseball, basketball, men's, basketball, women's, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, men's and women's, tennis, men's and women's, track, volleyball, wrestling. High Point Central is a dynamic school that promotes academic achievement, high expectations, respect, unity, and safety. High Point Central strives to develop specific goals and high academic standards, using communication and commitment within a shared learning environment.
The mission of High Point Central School is to offer an environment in which all students will acquire the necessary skills to become responsible thinkers who appreciate diversity and are productive citizens in their community.
