Central Bucks East
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Central Bucks East High School is one of three high school in the Central Bucks School District. The school is located in Buckingham, Pennsylvania in Bucks County, directly across a parking lot from Holicong Middle School. Its sister schools are Central Bucks West High School and Central Bucks South High School. A. Joseph Jennelle, is the principal of the Central Bucks East High School.
The curriculum boasts sixteen advanced placement courses and honors courses in most disciplines. Over 650 advanced placement tests were recently administered to East students, who excelled in every area. Newsweek magazine designated Central Bucks High School East one of the most competitive high school in the nation. Recent graduating classes consistently score in the top five percent of all high schools in the state on the rigorous PSSA, Pennsylvania System of School Assessment. The Class of 2000 scored highest of all comprehensive high schools on both the math and reading portions of the PSSA. This feat is especially noteworthy since there are over 500 high schools in the Pennsylvania. Central Bucks East is also a national blue ribbon school of excellence.
All students participating in sports for Central Bucks East are required to have a completed physical dated after June 1 of the current year. That physical can be recertified by a physician for the winter season dated after 10-1 and the spring season dated after 2-1. They must also submit the last page from the student athletic handbook and the blue medical permission form. Holicong and Tohickon students should follow the procedures for their school. John Reading is an athletic director. The school's mission is to provide all students with the opportunities and environment to achieve academic and personal excellence while assuring that this is done in a safe and comfortable atmosphere.
