High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
 
Edina is a top high school situated in the United States. Edina High School is a three-year public high school located in Edina, Minnesota, a first tier suburb of Minneapolis. The school was founded in 1949 and has a present enrollment of about 1,700 students. Edina High School is identified as a Five Star School by the Minnesota Department of Education and a National School of Excellence by the U. S. Department of Education.
 
Mary Manderfeld is the interim Principal of the school. The school mascot is Hornet and school colors are green, white and gold. Newsweek ranked the school at 201 in their list of the 1000 Top High Schools in America and the Grammy Foundation selected it as one of forty-two Signature Schools recognizing Edina's contributions to music education. Edina High School is a member of the Classic Lake Conference in the Minnesota State High School League. In the May 16, 2005 issue of Sports Illustrated, Edina High School's athletic program was ranked at 8 among United States high schools.
 
Edina claims 120 high school state championships, most of them earned in tennis, girls swimming and boys’ hockey. In 2000, the school was recognized as the first school in the state of Minnesota to win more than 100 state championships. Edina holds the record for most successive state championships in Girls tennis with fifteen from 1978 to 1992.
