High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Colonial Forge High School is a public high school in Stafford, Virginia serving students in grades nine through twelve in the central portion of Stafford County, Virginia. Colonial Forge High School is one of five secondary schools grade 9 to 12 in Stafford County and part of a school system serving over 24,000 students. With a student population of 1900, over 200 Colonial Forge students are enrolled in one or more music classes. The instrumental music instruction begins in the sixth grade for band at the 6 feeder elementary schools in the Stafford County school system.
Colonial Forge was completed in 1999 as the fourth high school in Stafford County. The school's colors are blue and green and the mascot is Apollo the Eagle. Colonial Forge's wrestling and volleyball teams have established themselves as powerhouses in the AAA Northwest Region and the state. With a student population of 1900, over 200 Colonial Forge students are enrolled in one or more music classes. Colonial Forge bands consistently receive superior ratings in grade V and VI literature at district festivals and are a four year recipient of the Virginia Honor Band award. Colonial Forge is also known to have been attended by such greats as Matthew O'Neill and is disgraced by the presence of Robert Petrucelli.
