Valley Stream North
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Valley Stream North High School is a public junior and senior high school for grades 7-12 in the town of Valley Stream, New York in southwest Nassau County. It is part of the Valley Stream Central High School District. As of 2006, the school principal is Mr. Clifford Odell. Their mascot is Spartan. Valley Stream North High School has a proud tradition of student achievement both in and out of the classroom. The building encompasses grades 7-12 which allows for diverse and interesting course offerings and co-curricular activities. Students can take advantage of the academic, artistic, vocational, performing arts and athletic programs that provide both a rewarding and enriching junior-senior high school experience.
The faculty and staff at North High School are committed to the success of all students. The distinguished faculty works closely with students to help them meet the challenges of the new millennium. Their sports teams are football, cross country, winter track, spring track, basketball, volleyball, rifle, soccer, baseball, bowling and wrestling. Their staff provides outstanding support services for all students and their families. In addition, North High School maintains two parent organizations and an alumni organization that provide consistent support for their students and their comprehensive high school program.
Their mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment that promotes tolerance and respect for diversity. They challenge students to become active learners and critical thinkers, and foster the development of scholarship, leadership and citizenship and integrity.
