Robbinsdale Cooper
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Robbinsdale Cooper High School, RCHS is a public secondary school located in New Hope, Minnesota, a northwest suburb of Minneapolis. Cooper, as it is informally referred to, became an International Baccalaureate, IB World School in July 1998, and now offers the IB Middle Years MYP and International Baccalaureate programs along with a wide variety of courses and curricula suited to the needs of every student. RCHS offers comprehensive fine arts and music program, as well as many extra-curricular activities, including, among other things, a broad selection of athletics. RCHS is annually home to more than 2000 students. Cooper students and Alumni are referred to as Hawks, after the school's mascot. Blue and Orange are the color of the school.
Cooper Senior High School, as it was originally known, was built in 1964 to accommodate increasing enrollment in the Robbinsdale area school district. Once called the most modern high school in the area, Cooper was advanced in both structure and audio visual technology.
Their academic departments include art, business, chemical health, English, front office, global language, guidance, health, math, media, music, science, social studies and special education etc. their athletics departments include fall season sport soccer. The mission of Robbinsdale Cooper high school is to educate and challenge students to become respectful and responsible citizens equipped with knowledge and skills necessary to successfully communicate, solve problems and use technology in the 21st century as a part of an ever-changing global society.
