Plainedge
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Plainedge Middle School is located in Bethpage, New York. Dr. Stephanie Clagnaz is the principal of the school. The mission of the school is to ensure that the students are enriched academically, socially and emotionally. The Plainedge School District currently consists of five schools. It has three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The curriculum includes the following subjects such as Literacy, social studies, mathematics, science, foreign language, music, technology and many more.
In the year 2005 to 2006, the year's budget was stripped to a minimum operating budget because of two failed community budget votes. This forced the school district onto an austerity budget. For the first time in Long Island history, all athletics were cut entirely from a school. Extra curriculum activities are given prime importance as well, golf and football being the favorite sports. While their Renaissance program rewards students’ success, they also provide support for students who need it. The second step program teaches students the social and emotional skills that reduce impulsive and aggressive behavior and increases their level of social competence.
The mission of Plainedge High School is to provide their students equal opportunities to grow along with all round development. It helps the students to understand their true potential. The students acquire knowledge in a unique way resulting in the development of values which are essential for future success. The staff provides a supportive and compassionate environment for the students.
