Langham Creek
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Langham Creek High School is a public high school located approximately 20 miles from downtown in the northwest suburban area of Houston, Texas. The surrounding community is largely residential and commercial and populated with middle and upper middle class families. Tom Strother is the principal and Marc Baker is assisting to him.
Students have the option of graduating with one of three types of diplomas namely Minimum High School Program, Recommended High School Program, or Distinguished Achievement Program. Beginning with the class of 2008, students must enroll in the courses necessary to complete the Recommended High School Program, unless the student, parent, and a school counselor agree that the student should be permitted to graduate under the Minimum High School Program.
Langham Creek High School is recognized as a strong, competitive high school with a college preparatory curriculum and a variety of vocational training programs, which includes cosmetology, early childhood professions, auto mechanics, health science technology, and three different cooperative work programs. Langham Creek High School promotes mutual respect between students and staff which foster and promote a positive school climate that engenders students to become effective communicators, competent problem-solvers, self-directed learners, responsible citizens and quality producers.
