Chapel Hill
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. Chapel Hill High School is a non-charter highly competitive suburban high school located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It is located close to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Chapel Hill High school is part of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools district which contains two other high schools, Carrboro High School and East Chapel Hill High School. Chapel Hill High School was listed as one of the top 10 high schools in the Wall Street Journal, for the best student performance over the past 10 years based on SAT, achievement-test and standardized-test scores.
Chapel Hill High School is academically more competitive than the average school in North Carolina. In 2005, at Chapel Hill High School, 83.5 percent of the student body has taken the SAT, and scored an average of 1116 compared to state average of 1008. Similarly, 97.3 percent of the student body has taken the PSAT, and scored an average of 155 compared to the state average of 133. Their departments are administration, career and technical education, cultural arts, English, guidance, math, media center, physical education health, science, social studies, special services, technology, world languages etc.
