Butler
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. Butler High School is a school representative of the 21st century, located on 74 acres in the Charlotte suburb of Matthews. It was founded in the fall of 1997, the school houses all programs in a modern single floor brick structure using start of the art networked computers and technology in all classrooms. From the beginning, David W. Butler has met its ABC goals, achieving an exemplary rating in numerous years by North Carolina ABC criteria for academic achievement. They were also designated by Newsweek magaizine as one of the top high schools in the nation. Butler is a comprehensive high school offering a wide range of college prepatory, workforce development, and general curriculum courses to challenge all learners. Their vision is meeting 21st century challenges as life-long learners. They are committed to ensuring academic and social success for all students in a safe and orderly environment, using technology while nurturing community collaboration among parents, students, and staff through shared decision making. The mission of Butler High School is to enhance the students' academic, artistic, social, and technological skills to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing and increasingly diverse society.
