High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

Quince Orchard High School, QOHS is a secondary school located on Quince Orchard Road near Gaithersburg in unincorporated Montgomery County, Maryland, United States and established 1988. The school mascot is Cougars and the school colors are Red, Black and White. Carole Working is the Principal of the school.

According to materials from the school, Quince Orchard encourages advanced studies in both the arts and academics. To this end, 24 Advanced Placement courses are offered, ranging from the Arts to World History. The schools also boast higher-than-average SAT, Scholastic Aptitude Test and ACT, a college-entrance achievement test scores, and requires 60 hours of community service for graduation.

Quince Orchard is highly regarded as having one of the finest arts programs in Maryland. An award-winning theatre and music department differentiate Quince Orchard from many other high schools, and the programs are often lauded for attempting difficult pieces and succeeding with apparent ease. Also, the QOHS yearbook, tracks, is one of the best yearbooks in the state of Maryland.
