Shasta
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Shasta High School is an American public high school located in Redding, California. With an enrollment of nearly 2000 students, it is the largest high school in Shasta County, California. The school's mascot is the wolf. Shasta is one of Newsweek's top 1200 schools in the nation. Milan Woollard is Principal of this school.
Shasta High School has a variety of sports teams, including basketball, football, baseball, swimming, skiing or snowboarding, track or cross-country, golf, tennis and wrestling. It also participates in the National Science Bowl and was involved in the local TV game show Academic Challenge until it was canceled in 2005. There are also a variety of student clubs which meet at lunch and after school such as student government and model United Nations. Shasta High School have 17 sports include Cross Country, Ski and Snowboard, Baseball, Football, Basketball, Golf, Soccer, Wrestling Softball, Swimming Tennis and Volleyball.
The mission of Shasta High School is to challenge students to maximize their potential as learners, achievers, and productive world citizens. School will offer for all Students rigorous standards based curricula in preparation for advanced educational opportunities, career paths to provide a school to career with employment and higher education, the knowledge and skill necessary to attain optimal health and physical fitness and to maintain both throughout their lives.
