Allen
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Allen High School is the only high school in Allen, Texas, United States, and it serves students in tenth through twelfth grades. It is part of the Allen Independent School District. Allen High School serves most of the city of Allen. Allen High School serves the quickly growing city of Allen, Texas, a suburban community located 23 miles north of Dallas. The students from neighboring Fairview and Lucas also attend grades 10 to 12 grades in Allen. The student enrollment has more than doubled since 1989, bringing the current number of students to about 3,689.
Mr. Steve Payne is the Principal of the school. Allen High School offers the International Baccalaureate program to its students. Allen High School also has one of the nation’s top high school broadcast programs. Allen High School also has the top high school photography program in the state of Texas. The school mascot is Eagle and school colors are blue and white. The school's German Folk dancing team won third place in state finals in 2006.
In athletics, the school offers baseball, basketball, bowling, blue crew, color guard, cross country, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rugby, screaming eagles, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, wrestling etc. At Allen High School, their mission is to promote educational growth through a rigorous curriculum along with the acquisition of technical skills and knowledge that will provide a basis for lifelong learning and will create a bridge between education and career.
