Niceville High School
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
NHS, Niceville High School of the Arts is a top high school located in the United States. Niceville Senior High School is located at of Niceville, Florida. NHS which was opened in 1964 at its present location atop a hill was not the original Niceville High School. According to diverse sources, Niceville High School was once located in a dance hall atop Howell Avenue. It has been a recognized school by SACS, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools for many years and Niceville High School remains to be a top high school on a high performing district. The current principal of NHS is Janie Varner.
The school also features a state of the art IT Institute, headed by Dean Patti Bonezzi. The IT Institute offers certifications in Microsoft, Oracle, Macromedia, Cisco, and Adobe. So far, over 250 plus students have received certifications since the institute opened in 2004. Niceville High school's Eagle pride marching band is also one of the largest in the state with 330 members. NHS won the State Championship in 1988 and went to the state Semifinals in 2005.
At Niceville High School, their mission is to provide a learning environment where students are challenged to reach their individual potential in the acquisition of knowledge and the development of personal, cultural and democratic values essential for future success.
