Mountain Brook
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
MBHS, Mountain Brook High School was founded in 1992. MBHS is situated in the city of Mountain Brook, a residential area of Birmingham with approximately 19,800 residents. It has a history of academic and athletic distinction. Its School Mascot is Spartan. The Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation is a non-profit corporation created to mobilize community support for Mountain Brook Schools. The foundation is operated independently from the school system.
Mountain Brook offers other activities include academic teams, clubs, honor societies, performing arts. As well as their academic include Career Tech, Drivers Ed, Foreign Language, Fine Arts, Mathematics, PE and Health, Special Education. The special education services for children with disabilities are provided in accordance with the individual with disabilities education improvement act, amendments of 2004. Mountain Brook honored by Redbook magazine selected MBHS as one of 155 schools to honor as America's Best High School for Overall Excellence, Honored by the College Board for their academic excellence and outstanding support and participation in Advanced Placement Program.
The mission of Mountain Brook High School is to provide a learning environment that encourages each individual to reach his or her potential intellectually, physically, creatively and emotionally.
