Mission San Jose
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. Mission San Jose High School is one of five comprehensive 9 to 12 high schools in the Fremont Unified School District, opened in 1963. Mission San Jose High School is located in the southeastern portion of the city of Fremont near the historic Mission District and Ohlone College. Mission San Jose High School has a student population of 2115 with the following ethnic breakdown include 75 percent Asian, 5 percent other ethnicities and 20 percent Caucasian. Mission San Jose High School Principal is Stuart Kew. Mission leads Alameda County in the number of National Merit Finalists and National Merit Commended students. Their students, with the assistance of staff members, continue to accumulate awards for individual and group competitions. These awards include 1st and 3rd place finishes in the National Lincoln Douglas Debates, 1st place in both the National Science Bowl and Oceanic Bowl as well as national recognition by the Siemens Westinghouse and Intel Science Talent Search competitions. Mission is extremely proud of its students and the accomplishments of their rich and diverse community.
