Millburn
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Millburn High School is a four-year public high school in Millburn, in Essex County, New Jersey. It is part of the Millburn Township Public Schools and enrolls students from the town of Millburn, including its neighborhood of Short Hills. Dr. Keith Neigel is the Principal and also deputy superintendent of schools. Mr. Bill Miron and Dr. Michelle Pitts are Assistant Principals.
Millburn High School competes in the Suburban Division of the Northern Hills Conference. It is known for having a constantly strong boys' and girls' tennis and fencing teams. In addition, Millburn is home to a nationally regarded Forensics team, which placed fifth in the National Debate Rankings during the 2005-2006 school year. Millburn also competes in state and national Academic Quiz Bowl competitions, netting sixth place in the 2006 NAQT, National Academic Quiz Tournaments.
The school was 181st sixth-highest in New Jersey, on Newsweek's May 8, 2006, list of 1,200 U.S. high schools. Millburn High School was ranked as Number 148 in Newsweek's 2005 rankings. Millburn High School was ranked third of 316 New Jersey public high schools in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools.
At Millburn High School, their goal is to promote educational growth through a rigorous curriculum along with the acquisition of technical skills and knowledge that will provide a basis for lifelong learning and will create a bridge between education and career.
