McNeil
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
McNeil High School is located in a suburban area between Austin and Round Rock, Texas. The community is mostly composed of business, technical, and professional people who commute to jobs in the Austin area. McNeil High School is in its thirteenth year of operation. It has about 2700 students in grades 9 to 12, with over 200 professional staff members.
The McNeil Engineering Academy was opened in 2001. The program presently has 160 students and offers the most comprehensive curriculum in Central Texas. Four years of classes are available. Of McNeil's 29 engineering academy graduates in 2005, 19 are majoring in engineering or a related field. The school offer different sports including football, baseball, tennis, cross country, swimming, club lacrosse, basketball, soccer, track and field for boys and girls also.
At McNeil High School, their mission is to provide a flexible environment which transcends the conventional high school in order to develop quality individuals who strive for excellence, are open-minded and resourceful, are creative, responsible and cooperative, and are problem solvers, decision makers and adept negotiators.
