Great Neck North was rated the 43rd best school in Newsweek Magazine's recent listing of America's Best High Schools in the August 5, 2005 issue Great Neck North was designed by the noted Newark, New Jersey architectural firm of Guilbert and Betelle. It was featured in the December, 1931 issue of The Architectural Forum. The Great Neck School District is a comprehensive community public school district serving students in Great Neck, New York, United States. About 6,000 students, grades K-12, attend the Great Neck Public Schools. There are three high schools North High School, with an alternative program, Community School, South High School and The Village School, a small alternative high school. There are also two middle schools and four elementary schools. The North High Guidance Department has a commitment to help students attain their full academic potential, develop responsible independence and form a sense of self-worth through a supportive counseling relationship and collaborative partnership with parents, teachers, and administrators as they strive to identify and clarify personal values and goals.
