Laguna Beach
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
LBHS, Laguna Beach High School was established in 1934. Laguna Beach High School has an enrollment of 935 and is the only high school within Laguna Beach Unified School District. LBHS offers a strong college preparatory program. LBHS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2006. Don Austin is Principal of Laguna Beach High School.
The academic is based on all grades except physical education and athletics. The Capistrano Laguna Beach Regional Occupational program offers entry-level career classes to LBHS students. In addition, Saddleback and Irvine Colleges offer special part-time high school programs for LBHS junior and seniors in which students may earn college credit. LBHS recognizes its obligation to provide an educational atmosphere, which will prepare students for a successful, productive and responsible adult life.
Laguna Beach High School offers a comprehensive guidance program that recognizes that each student is unique. Counselors are available to offer direction as students plan their academic futures. Starting in ninth grade, students work with their counselors to create a four-year academic plan that will lead to a career or to the university or college of the student’s choice. The mission of Laguna Beach High School is to challenge students to maximize their potential as learners, achievers, and productive world citizens.
