Wenatchee is a city located at the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers near the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountain range in the U.S. State of Washington. Wenatchee is the most populous city in and the county seat of Chelan County, Washington. Wenatchee is the twin city of East Wenatchee, Washington. Wenatchee is the principal city of the Wenatchee, Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Chelan and Douglas counties.  
 
In 2000, the population of the city was 27,856 and an area of 19.0 square kilometers. The Wenatchee Valley and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of spots and recreational activities for any season. There are several facilities including a tennis club, an Olympic size swimming pool, an ice arena, several 18-hole and 9-hole golf courses, and countless base ball diamonds and soccer fields. The city also offers a large system of parks and paved trails known as the Apple Capital Recreational Loop Trail.
