The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.

Ketchikan is the fifth most populous city in the U.S. state of Alaska and the southeasternnmost sizable city in that state. Ketchikan's economy is based upon tourism and fishing, and the city is known as the Salmon Capital of the World. The Misty Fjords National Monument is one of the area's major attractions. The population of the city was 7,410 inhabitants in the year 2005 with an area 10.7 square kilometers. And its population density was 851.7 per square kilometers.

Ketchikan is named after Ketchikan Creek, which flows through the town. Ketchikan comes from the Tlingit name for the creek, Kitschk-hin, the meaning of which is unclear, although it may mean the river belonging to Kitschk. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.7 square kilometers.

Ketchikan experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in United States.
