North Platte

North Platte is a municipality in Lincoln County in southwestern Nebraska. In 2000, the population of the city was 23,878 and an area of 27.4 square kilometers. It is the county seat of Lincoln County. Lincoln County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. North Platte is a railroad town; Union Pacific Railroad's large Bailey Yard is located within the city.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.0 percent under the age of 18, 9.5 percent from 18 to 24, 26.8 percent from 25 to 44, 21.9 percent from 45 to 64, and 15.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.0 males. North Platte is home to the world's largest railyard, Bailey Yard.
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, North Platte is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
