Fort Collins
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.
The city of Fort Collins is the most populous city and the county seat of Larimer County, Colorado. It is a large college town in the north central region of the state, along what is known as the Colorado Front Range. Fort Collins is the fifth most populous city in the State of Colorado and the 185th most populous city in the United States.
Fort Collins was founded as a military outpost of the United States Army in 1864. There was a previous encampment, known as Camp Collins, on the Cache La Poudre River, near present-day Laporte. Camp Collins was erected during the Indian wars of the mid-1860s to protect the Overland mail route that had by this time detoured through the region. Travelers crossing the county on the Overland Trail would camp there, but a flood destroyed it in June 1864.
Fort Collins is located at to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 122.1 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 21.5 percent under the age of 18, 22.1 percent from 18 to 24, 31.5 percent from 25 to 44, 17.0 percent from 45 to 64, and 7.9 percent who were 65 years of age or older.
Like some of its sister municipalities and towns, Fort Collins is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in United States.
