The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.

Flint is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located along the Flint River, 66 miles northwest of Detroit. As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 124,943, making it the fourth largest city in Michigan. It is the county seat of Genesee County. Flint Charter Township is adjacent to the city on the west but is politically independent.

Today, the auto industry continues its exodus from Flint as does the population and sources of revenue. The massive Buick City complex was closed in 1999 and demolished three years later. Delphi's Flint East operations are scheduled to close sometime in 2006, and the last few building of Buick City, known as Powertrain North, famous for building GM's 3800 V6 engine, is scheduled to close in 2008. Unable to pay its debts, the city was placed into receivership by the state of Michigan in 2002, with a financial manager effectively replacing the mayor. In 2004, local control was resumed.

In the city the population was spread out with 30.6 percent under the age of 18, 10.3 percent from 18 to 24, 29.4 percent from 25 to 44, 19.2 percent from 45 to 64, and 10.5 percent who were 65 years of age or older.

The city of Flint is served by Bishop International Airport and various bus lines. Amtrak provides intercity passenger rail service on the Blue Water line from Chicago to Port Huron at the border to Canada. For travel within and around the city, the Flint Mass Transportation Authority provides local bus services. Greyhound Lines also runs inter-city bus services north to Bay City and south to Detroit. Indian Trails runs inter-city bus services west to Chicago.

Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. Flint enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
