Elyria

Elyria is a city in Lorain County, Ohio, at the forks of the Black River founded in 1817. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 55,953 inhabitants. It is the county seat of Lorain County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 51.6 square kilometers. The Black River is formed in Elyria.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.6 percent under the age of 18, 8.9 percent from 18 to 24, 30.2 percent from 25 to 44, 21.3 percent from 45 to 64, and 13.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 92.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.7 males.
Elyria is also known as the city of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
