Clearfield

Clearfield is a borough in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,631 inhabitants at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Clearfield County. Clearfield County was created on March 26, 1804 from parts of Huntingdon and Lycoming Counties but was administered as part of Centre County until 1812. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 4.9 square kilometers. In the borough the population was spread out with 20.4 percent under the age of 18, 8.4 percent from 18 to 24, 28.3 percent from 25 to 44, 22.7 percent from 45 to 64, and 20.2 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 89.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.9 males. Clearfield experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in United States.
