Dumas is a city in Moore County, Texas, United States. The population was 13,747 inhabitants at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Moore County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.3 square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 32.3 percent under the age of 18, 8.9 percent from 18 to 24, 28.0 percent from 25 to 44, 18.7 percent from 45 to 64, and 12.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.4 males.
