Carlsbad
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.
Carlsbad is a coastal resort-town in northern San Diego County, California. According to the state department of finance, the city had a total population of 90,271 inhabitants in 2003. Carlsbad was incorporated in 1952, in large part to generate sufficient funding to connect with the water pipeline running through San Diego County, but also to avoid being annexed by Oceanside.
The environment is of great concern to the city. Thus, the city has drafted ordinances protecting sensitive wildlife habitat, one of the first such ordinances within the state of California. The city has also promised to protect a certain amount of land within city limits from development of any kind, along with spending significant funds to restore habitats destroyed by newer development projects.
In the city the population was spread out with 23.3 percent under the age of 18, 6.2 percent from 18 to 24, 31.9 percent from 25 to 44, 24.6 percent from 45 to 64, and 14.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 95.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males.
Carlsbad experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in United States.
