Dodge City
The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. The United States is a federal constitutional republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C., District of Columbia.
Dodge City is a city and county seat of Ford County, Kansas. It was named after Grenville M. Dodge. The population was 25,176 inhabitants at the 2000 census. The city's name is well known to generations of Americans, as the long-running old-time radio and television Western drama program Gunsmoke was set in Dodge City.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 32.9 square kilometers. Dodge City is served by two commercial airlines at Dodge City Regional Airport. As of the census of 2000, there were 25,176 people, 8,395 households, and 5,968 families residing in the city. The population density was 770.9 per square kilometers. There were 8,976 housing units at an average density of 274.8 per square kilometers.
In the city the population was spread out with 31.2 percent under the age of 18, 12.3 percent from 18 to 24, 30.0 percent from 25 to 44, 16.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 10.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 106.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.2 males. Dodge City historical visitors and temporary residents are Clay Allison, Jim Court right.
Dodge City experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history.
