Woodbridge
High school is a name used in some parts of the world and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11 and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. Woodbridge Senior High School is a comprehensive high school which is located in Woodbridge. Alan C. Ross is the principal of the school. It provides a challenging academic offering with an emphasis on college preparation, as well as a variety of excellent vocational preparation programs. The school curriculum, as well as curricular and extra curricular activities, includes experiences that enable students to realize personal and civic goals which allow them to mature and to be responsible members of thier constantly changing society. The school is offers various academic courses like advanced placement course, art, business technology, dance, music, science, technical education and many more. A full range of vocational courses is also offered which, in combination with the academic offering, allows students to prepare for college entrance, to enter the job market upon graduation or to enroll in post secondary training in various fields. The school is a center for the Fine and Performing Arts. The students are auditioned into this program in the areas of vocal music, instrumental music, theater, creative writing, visual art, television production and dance. The mission of the school is to prepare students to become confident, competent, ethical individuals and responsible citizens by creating a positive and nurturing school environment where staff, students, parents and the community work together to promote lifelong learning and to provide opportunities for students to reach their maximum potential. The school believes that intellectual and moral excellence is achieved through the active participation of many people in diverse roles, which brings in a wide range of expertise and experience.
