West Windsor-Plainsboro North
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North, also known as WW-P North, is a four-year public high school located in Plainsboro Township in Middlesex County, New Jersey serving students in grades 9 through 12. The school is part of the West Windsor-Plainsboro regional school district, a school district serving students from West Windsor township and Plainsboro township. As of the 2004 to 2005 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,328 students. The school was established in the year 1997. The mascot of the school is the Northern Knight as voted on by the original two graduating classes, the classes of 2002 and 2003. The school colors are royal blue and silver. Micheal Zapicchi is the principal of the school. For the 2006 to 2007 school year, West Windsor-Plainsboro high school was recognized with the Blue Ribbon award from the United States department of education, the highest honor that an American school can achieve.
It was the 18th ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's top public high schools. The West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North Knights often participate in the fourteen member colonial valley conference, which includes high schools from Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth Counties. The high school had a fierce rivalry with its sister school, West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South that began when the two high schools began operating independently of each other in 2000.
The school preserves its historical vision, gives that vision vitality in changing times and embeds its ideals in every succeeding generation. The school believes that intellectual and moral excellence is achieved through the active participation of many people in diverse roles, which brings in a wide range of expertise and experience. It helps the students to understand their true potential and helps them to acquire knowledge in a unique way resulting in the development of values which are essential for future success.
