West Genesee
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
West Genesee High School is an American public high school in Camillus, New York. It is part of the West Genesee central school district. The school enrolled 1,662 students in the 2004 2005 school year. The school was established in the year 1952. Barry Copeland is the principal of the school while wildcat is the mascot. In both 2003 and 2005 the school was recognized by Newsweek as one of the best high schools in America.
West Genesee is renowned for its marching band and lacrosse programs. The team has won 14 New York State championships, including four consecutive between 2002 and 2005. West Genesee High School boasts local director Sharee Lemos as the head of its drama program. The most recent season included productions of the programs named the Man Who Came To Dinner and Oliver. The school also encourages the students to participate in various sporting events.
