High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.

West Forsyth is a high school in Clemmons, a small suburb of Winston Salem. The school has 1611 students. It is the third largest in Forsyth County and the 53rd largest in North Carolina. It was established in the year 1964. The school colors are green and gold while the team name is Titans. West Forsyth was built in 1964 after the merger of the Winston-Salem School District and Forsyth County School District. The early seventies brought several new additions including the track, football stadium, and tennis courts.

The spread out campus allows travel between classes easier than most other schools. There are a large number of picnic tables outside for eating lunch in the fall and spring. The school has two computer labs, both with machines less than three years old. The library is also up to date with modern computers, research materials and a wide selection of novels. The cafeteria sells a decent variety of food. Chartwells school dining services provides the foodservice management of the National school lunch and breakfast programs.

West Forsyth is a member of the 4A Central Piedmont Conference, CPC. The CPC is a top notch conference, featuring many of West's rivals. The school has won numerous conference championships and offers a wide variety of sports on both the varsity and junior varsity level. Along with all this it offers a wide variety of clubs for its students. All clubs have a staff member as their sponsor. They also usually have a student in charge of organizing club meetings. Students can start a new club if they find enough support and a staff member to sponsor them.

The mission of the school is to prepare students to become confident, competent, ethical individuals and responsible citizens by creating a positive and nurturing school environment where staff, students, parents and the community work together to promote lifelong learning and to provide opportunities for students to reach their maximum potential.
