Wayne Hills
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Wayne Hills High School is a comprehensive community public high school, one of the two high schools in Wayne, in Passaic County, New Jersey in United States. The school was established in the year 1967. Frank Markowick is the principal of this school while the mascot is Patriot. As of the 2004 to 2005 school year, there was a student population of 1,353 students with 96.6 classroom teachers. There were 148 Asian, 14 black, 68 Hispanic and 1,123 white students.
Wayne Hills High School was the 70th ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2006 cover story on the state's top public high schools. The Wayne Hills Patriots are one of twelve teams participating in the North Bergen interscholastic athletic league and are the only team outside Bergen County participating in the league. The football team has won 4 state championships in the past five years through 2006, running as the three time defending champs.
