North Hills School
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
North Hills High School is a 1st through 12th grade charter school in Irving, Texas. It is a college preparatory school. In 2006, it was placed 12th on Newsweek's Top 1000 High Schools list. The Newsweek recorded the total number of AP, advance placement tests taken, regardless of what grade was given to the student, and divided it up by the total number of seniors.
North Hills High School providing a preparatory curriculum of the highest standards that encourages children to raise the level of expectations that they place upon themselves and motivates them to become successful leaders. In 2003, the North Hills School became an IB, International Baccalaureate world school and began offering the IB Diploma Programme in the 11th and 12th grades. In 2005, 100 percent of North Hills IB Diploma candidates received IB diplomas.
The competitive extra-curricular opportunities available at the North Hills School include Model United Nations, Mock Trial, tennis, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and golf. In 2005 the North Hills Mock trial team placed second in the state of Texas.
The athletics programs include baseball, basketball, men's, basketball, women's, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, men's and women's, tennis, men's and women's, track, volleyball, wrestling. North Hills High School is a dynamic school that promotes academic achievement, high expectations, respect, unity, and safety. North Hills High Schoolstrives to develop specific goals and high academic standards, using communication and commitment within a shared learning environment.
