Montgomery
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Montgomery High School is a four year public high school located in the Skillman area of Montgomery Township, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Montgomery Township School District. A new building opened in the fall of 2005 and is currently the home of over 1,600 high school students. Mascot is Cougar. The school colors are green and gold. Mr. James H. Misek is a principal of this school.
There are many extracurricular activities offered at Montgomery High School. The sports include cross country running, baseball, football, hockey basketball, lacrosse, swimming, and track. Montgomery is a member of the Skyland Conference, which is comprised of eighteen public and parochial high schools covering Hunterdon County, Somerset County and Warren County in west central New Jersey, and operates under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.
Montgomery High School made it to the 2006 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Public School Ice Hockey State Champions, falling to Randolph High School in the finals of the 64 team tournament.
The athletics programs include baseball, basketball, men's, basketball, women's, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, men's and women's, tennis, men's and women's, track, volleyball, wrestling. Montgomery High School is a dynamic school that promotes academic achievement, high expectations, respect, unity, and safety. Montgomery High School strives to develop specific goals and high academic standards, using communication and commitment within a shared learning environment.
The mission of Montgomery High School is to offer an environment in which all students will acquire the necessary skills to become responsible thinkers who appreciate diversity and are productive citizens in their community.
