Hume-Fogg Academic
High school is a name used in some parts of the world and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11 and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Hume-Fogg Academic is one the top high schools. Hume-Fogg Academic High School is a public high school located in downtown Nashville in Tennessee. Hume-Fogg's original incarnation, Hume High School, which opened in 1855, was the first public school in Nashville. In 1875, Fogg High School became the second public school in Nashville. In 1912, the two merged into Hume-Fogg at the present site at 700 Broadway in Nashville, a Tudor revival building. In 1942, Hume-Fogg was recast as a technical and vocational school. It continued in this capacity until the 1982 court supervised desegregation of Nashville's public school system.
Their academic programs include the courses like as arts, English, social studies courses, foreign language, science and many more. Other activities include athletics, clubs that has been provided by high school. The scholar in residence program has been envisioned for quite some time by the educators, parents and other stakeholders as an opportunity to engage students with various academic experts who will share what they know, thereby extending the existing curriculum. In 2004 to 2005, the college board certified Hume-Fogg's advanced placement microeconomics course as the strongest in the world. The community, which draws its population from the entire Metropolitan area, is committed to meeting academic needs and to providing opportunities for personal development.
Hume-Fogg Academic mission is to provide a challenging college preparatory program in a unique public school environment that ensures the development, both individually and collectively, of the culturally diverse and academically talented students. Various programs encourage the development of integrity, decision making skills and in depth pursuit of interests.
