Glenbard South
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
GSHS, Glenbard South was established in 1972. GSHS locally referred to as Glenbard South, is a public four-year high school located at the corner of Butterfield road and park Boulevard in the Southwest corner of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. William Leensvaartis is the principal of the school. Raiders are the Mascot of the school. The staff is comprised of 100 teachers. Glenbard South competes in the western sun conference. In 2001, Glenbard South won the Illinois state championship for Boys Cross Country.
They offer their academic departments like as art, art department, while maintaining a safe and caring environment, provides South students with artistic experiences that foster creative thinking, problem solving, and encourage self expression. In 2005, Glenbard South had an average composite score of 24.0, and graduated 96.3 percent of its senior class. Glenbard South has made adequate yearly progress on the Prairie State achievements examination, a state test part of the no child left behind act. The mission of the physical education department at Glenbard South High School is to prepare their students to be able to make positive lifetime choices contributing to their overall wellness.
Their students will be equipped with the knowledge to reach their highest potential in achieving a healthy active lifestyle. Their mock trial team was second place in the state of Illinois, with many regional victories. The Glenbard South Chess team was first place in the state of Illinois, and their Science Olympiad Team, in their first year, took fourth place in the state of Illinois. Glenbard South’s mission is to prepare students to be productive citizens equipped to challenge the future as a knowledgeable person, critical thinker, effective communicator, quality producer, collaborative worker, responsible individual, and socially responsible citizen. To provide students with computer, business, and financial survival skills necessary to succeed in high school, college, in a career, and in personal finance.
