Centennial, Columbus
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Centennial High School, a state-recognized Venture school, has come a long way since it opened in 1976. Centennial has found a new and improved method of keeping track of their students. The new e-attendance requires the students to scan the barcode on their student ID, which makes a record on a computer. The students are required to do this first thing in the morning, before they leave campus for lunch, and when they return. This also applies to all visitors. When the visitors arrive to the school they must first receive a visitor’s pass before going to their destination. This helps the school keep track of all people entering and leaving the building at all times. This method of scanning is not only an easy way of taking attendance, but it also keeps the students safe.
