Edward R. Murrow
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Edward R. Murrow is a top high school situated in the United States. Edward R. Murrow High School, founded in 1974 by Saul Bruckner, is located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, New York. Murrow is a part of the New York City Department of Education. Murrow was founded according to the educational theories of John Dewey, and is known for its academic excellence as well as its laid-back atmosphere. Anthony R. Lodico is the Principal of the school.
Edward R. Murrow High School is a school with a diverse selection of classes and activities that will help prepare students for college. They encourage all future Murrow students to take advantage of the things Murrow has to offer. Although Murrow is not traditional when compared to other high schools, Murrow still offers the five traditional academic subjects: English, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language and Mathematics. They also offer other majors such as Business Education, Music, Theatre and Fine Arts.
Murrow is consistently ranked one of the best high schools in the country, recognized by the Department of Education as a School of Excellence in 1989, and considered one of the best schools in the nation by Newsweek. At Murrow, their mission is to provide a standards-based educational program using a range of services in a diverse, inclusive and collaborative school community in which students assume responsibility for their individual and group behavior and are given the opportunity to develop and actualize their unique talents needed for successful entrance into college, employment and productive citizenship.
