Eastern
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Eastern is a top high school situated in the United States. It was founded in 1950, Louisville Eastern High School is located in Middletown, Kentucky. Eastern High School offers a blend of tradition and excellence. With an enrollment of over 1,750 students, this school has been the pilot for education partnerships with companies such as IBM, Dell and Microsoft. The school opened in 1950 on its present site in Middletown, Kentucky. The library was later added to the front of the school, giving the building a layout in the shape of the letter E. The school has been part of the Jefferson County school system since before the county system absorbed the old Louisville city school system.
Eastern high school was recently chosen by Newsweek as the 300 School in America by virtue of its high rates of AP, Advancement Placement course taken and passed over 50 percent pass rate of over 500 tests taken. Eastern offers teams in baseball, basketball, cheerleading, chess, cross country, dance, field hockey, football, golf, lacrosse, rifle, softball, soccer, swimming, track and field, tennis, volleyball and wrestling. Within the past decade Eastern has won state championships in girls' track as well as boys' basketball and soccer.
The mission of Eastern high school is to provide their students with opportunities to obtain the skills needed to become productive, responsible citizens, capable of making positive contributions to a changing society.
