Dripping Springs
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Dripping Springs High School is a comprehensive public high school consisting of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. The enrollment is approximately 1,065 students. From the graduating class of 2003, approximately 82 percent of the students are attending either a two-year or four year post secondary institution. It was located in Hays County, approximately 15 miles west of Austin. Dripping Springs is often referred to as the Gateway to the Texas Hill Country.
Dripping Springs High School is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency and is rated as an Exemplary High School by the Texas Education Agency on the Academic Excellence Indicator System. The AD, Advanced Placement courses are offered in American government, biology, calculus, chemistry, computer science, computer science-java, English language, English literature, environmental science, physics. Pre-AP courses are offered in algebra I, algebra II, art I, biology, chemistry, computer science, English I and II.
Their athletics department is divided in to three departments fall sport, winter sport, spring sport. Fall sport includes cross county, football, team tennis, volley ball. Winter sport includes basket ball, soccer, power lifting, and swimming. The spring sports include baseball, golf, softball and tennis.
The mission of Dripping Springs High School is to provide an environment in which all students will acquire the necessary skills to become responsible thinkers who appreciate diversity and are productive citizens in their community.
