Dobbs Ferry
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district.
Dobbs Ferry High School faculty, staff, parents, and community members are committed to providing a high quality education whereby all students are empowered to reach their individual potential, respect and value themselves and others, and become life-long learners. Their school features a rigorous and academically demanding International Baccalaureate Program, which provides students with intellectual, social, and cultural preparation necessary for success in the global marketplace. Keith K Yi is the Principal of the school.
The International Baccalaureate, IB program, established in 1968 by the International Baccalaureate Organization, IBO is a curriculum designed to challenge students who desire a rigorous pre-university academic experience. In 1998, Dobbs Ferry High School adopted the IB Program as its favored curriculum for students who prefer advanced study.
The International Baccalaureate, IB Diploma Program is a comprehensive and challenging pre-university course that demands the best from both motivated students. Their courses include Foreign Language, History and Social Sciences, Library, Physical Education, Humanities etc. They provide the extra training courses such as Professional Development, Physical Education etc. In the May 16, 2005 issue of Newsweek is America's Best High Schools, their school was ranked 49th in the nation.
