Walt Whitman, Huntington Station

Walt Whitman High School is a top high school situated in the United States. Walt Whitman High School is located on West Hills Road, in Huntington Station. It is part of the South Huntington Union Free School District and is the district's only high school. Ranging from year to year, the school typically has around 2000 students in grades 9 to 12. Mr. James Polansky is the principal of the school. The current building that houses the school was built in 1955.
Their course offerings include required studies in english, mathematics, science, social studies, health, art, music and physical education. Elective courses are available in such areas as mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, business, fine arts and industrial arts. The school now offers a great deal of Advanced Placement courses in science, history, mathematics, government, economics and English. Also offered are a number of classes that can be taken for college credits.
The school curriculum, as well as curricular and extra curricular activities, includes experiences that enable students to realize personal and civic goals which allow them to mature and to be responsible members of our constantly changing society. The staff at the school is known for their teaching abilities. Many staff members are Whitman graduates. An array of extracurricular opportunities provides choices for all students. Support classes in core disciplines are provided for students in need of additional assistance. The staff teaches all the necessary academic skills.
