W. T. White
High school is a name used in some parts of the world, and particularly in North America, to describe the last segment of compulsory secondary education. It is preceded by primary education. High school is also the name used to describe the institution in which the final stage of compulsory education takes place. In the United States, high schools generally consist of grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, although the inclusion of grade 9 varies by school district. W. T. White High School is a public high school in the Dallas Independent School District serving North Dallas students in grades 9-12. W. T. White features high academic standards, a diverse student body, and a well-rounded program of educational and extracurricular activities. In addition to having the highest TAKS, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills scores in DISD, the Dallas Independent School District for a traditional high school. They were selected as one of three National winners of the College Board's Inspiration Award in 2003. Their mascot is Longhorns. Michael Dang is the dean of the school and Joy Barnhart is the principal. Terry Durr, Tanya Johnson and Barbara Morrison are assisting to Joy Barnhart.
Courses offered by the school are advanced placement, English, fine arts, social sciences, science, technology education, foreign language, mathematics, business & marketing, family living, English as a second language, physical education etc. clubs includes art club, chess club, French club, German club, Spanish club and key club. They receive many awards in athletics. Their mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment that promotes tolerance and respect for diversity. They challenge students to become active learners and critical thinkers, and foster the development of scholarship, leadership, citizenship and integrity.
